Five things we do properly, by one veteran party. Design that earns its keep, engineering that survives contact with real users, and the brand and commerce work that makes people choose you.
We start at wireframes and stay until the last hover state. Research where it changes decisions, prototypes tested on real users, and a design system your developers can actually build from.

ITEM 03BRANDING & IDENTITY · THE ILLUSIONIST
A BRAND THAT SURVIVES CONTACT WITH THE MARKET.
Not a logo and a mood board. An origin story you can say out loud, a type and colour system that works at 14px and on a billboard, and the guidelines that stop it drifting six months later.

HOW WE ENGAGE
THREE WAYS TO PARTY UP
FIXED QUEST
A defined scope, a specification and a number. Best when you know what you need built.
TYPICALLY 6–16 WEEKS
ONGOING RETAINER
A block of hours each month for improvements, support and the next thing on the roadmap.
ROLLING, MONTHLY
TEAM EXTENSION
Our designers and engineers join your party — your process, your standups, your repo.
3 MONTHS MINIMUM
ASK THE INNKEEPER
BEFORE YOU ASK
It depends on scope, but we'll tell you a realistic range in the first conversation rather than after three meetings. Most fixed projects land between £25k and £150k; retainers start lower. If your budget won't cover what you're describing, we'll say so and suggest a smaller first level.
A focused site or store is typically 6–10 weeks. A product with real complexity, 3–6 months to first release. You'll see working software every two weeks throughout, so the timeline is visible rather than promised.
We recommend, you decide. We're not tied to one stack, so the choice comes from your goals, your team's ability to maintain it, and where you'll be in three years — not from what we happen to like this year.
Often that's exactly the job. We'll audit what exists, work inside your repo and rituals, and improve things incrementally rather than insisting on a rewrite you don't need.
Yes to both. We'll build from someone else's designs, and we'll hand over designs for your team to build — with the documentation and time needed to make that handover actually work.
Uptime and error monitoring, then measured improvements — the post-release patch cycle. Support runs on blocks of time, so you're not negotiating for every two-hour change.
LET'S BUILD WHAT'S NEXT.
